Rent 2 Own Cars originated in 2006, when Paul Green and Tim Roberts were desperately trying to find a way to get cars to people who had been refused finance from all other institutions. Paul and Tim believed that every person, no matter their circumstance, should be ‘given a go’ in relation to owning and paying off a motor vehicle.
From there, they developed a system whereby clients could own a vehicle and repay the vehicle in a simple but tightly controlled manner, to ensure clients received a quality vehicle at the right price, and the motor dealer was protected from any possible defaults. They then invited selected licensed motor dealers to use the Rent 2 Own Cars system.
2007 saw the opening of Rent 2 Own cars at Baldy’s Car Company in Maroochydore, Queensland, Australia. The founder’s goal from the outset was to provide great cars to people who needed them, superior service, affordable repayments, and to allow people to re-discover the independence a motor vehicle can bring. Rent 2 Own was an instant hit.
